The superintendent of Grand Gedeh County has admonished citizens of the County to continue following the Ebola preventive measures.

Superintendent Peter L. Solo said while it is true that Liberia is poised to be declared Ebola free  within few weeks, people still need to be careful  as they go about their  daily activities.

He praised the UNHCR for making tremendous efforts in preventing the spread of the virus in Refugee camps across the country.
The superintendent was speaking at the farewell program in honor of the country representative of the United Nations High Commission for Refugee, Dr. Khassin Diagne on  in Zwedru.

Superintendent Solo also lauded Dr. Diagne for the number of projects the UNHCR has implemented in his County which includes providing vehicles for the superintendent’s office, provision of lodging facilities for Ivorian refugees, building schools, hand pumps, pit latrines among others.

The UNHCR was amongst several NGOs helping to contain the spread of Ebola in Grand Gedeh through the supply of anti-Ebola materials and routine awareness.

The superintendent further mentioned that 2014 was a year of turmoil for all Liberians as the EVD took thousands of lives and Grand Gedeans were no exemption to the death toll of the  outbreak.
”Pronouncing the country free of the deadly virus will restore hope for development across the county”  Supt. Peter Solo pointed out.

Dr. Diagne who was named “Beldeh” [meaning able] in the Krahn dialect leaves Liberia after 10 years of humanitarian service with the UNHCR in Liberia.
He commended the people of Grand Gedeh for being receptive to the civil society partners in the county and for following the preventive methods.
