Maryland County – A local non-governmental organization, Christians Humanitarian Services (CHS), has certificated over 30 market women after a six-month intensive business management skill training in Pleebo city, Maryland County.
Raymond Chie, CHS county coordinator, said on Monday, September 22 the organization was established August 2015 to provide “some basic business training to market women”.
He said CHS is a self-supported organization helping local businesswomen learn how to manage their small businesses.
Chie told journalists “most market women leave the market because of lack of basic training in business management.”
He encouraged the new trainees to take advantage of the management skill and use their certificates achieved to get other opportunities for the promotion of their businesses.
Speaking at the closing program, the trainees appreciated CHS for the “important initiative”.
Mother Theresa Mah, a trainee, said the six months training “built up their marketing skills and strategies of managing their own businesses”.
Mother Mah also encouraged her fellow marketers to uphold the basic knowledge acquired during the period for their own economic benefits.
Helena Pokar, another trainee, called on the Government of Liberia and other NGOs to value the certificates given them by “building financial trust in those of us who have been trained”.
