Correct, Senator Dillion Did Value His Gardnerville Home at US$40,000 in 2021

Summary

Claims have been spreading that Senator Abraham Darius Dillion valued his property in Gardnersville at US$40,000 but has declared the same property at US$38,000 in his asset declaration form this 2024. We have reviewed these asset declaration forms and found the claim to be correct.

Sakou Kalasco posted to Facebook, claiming that Montserrado County Senator Abrahm Darious Dillion valued his house in Gardnerville at $40,000.00 in 2021 when he declared his assets and has recently valued the same property in 2024 at $38,000.00.

Several other Liberians made the same claim on Facebook and some of their claims can be seen here, here and here.

Assets declaration is by law and it is enshrined in Part 10, Section 10.1 of the 2014 Code of Conduct for public officials.

The claim

Sakou posted to Facebook: “In 2021, when Senator Dillon declared his assets his house according to him without a fence was valued at $40K. Now, the same house is fenced, with a gate, and 50 kva generator but valued at $38K?”

Rating Justification

To verify this claim, we reviewed the assets declaration forms of Senator Dillon when he declared his assets in 2021 as Senator of Montserrado County.

On the 2021 form obtained by LVL Fact Checking Desk, Senator Dillon valued his home in Gardnerville at $40,000.00.

The assets declaration forms (above) show that Senator Dillion valued the property at US$40,000 in 2021.

However, Mr. Dillion has valued at USD$38,000 when he recently declared his assets.

Our Fact-Checking Desk obtained the Senator’s Assets Declaration form to verify the value of his home in Gardnesville. We observed that Senator Dillion valued the same Gardnerville’s home at Uus$38,000.

Conclusion

Based on our review of the 2021and 2024 assets declaration forms of Senator Dillion, we conclude that the claim by Sakou Kalasco and others is correct. In 2021 upon wining the senatorial race in Montserrado County, Senator Dillon valued of his house at $40,000, but in 2024, he valued this same property at $38,000 on his assets declaration form.
