Fact Check: NEC Voter Check System Has No Information for Nimba County Senatorial Aspirant ‘Prophet Key”

In Summary:

  • The Secretary General of the Unity Party Youth Congress in Nimba County asserted in a Facebook post that Justin Oldpa Yeazeahn, known as Prophet Key, is not a registered voter in Nimba.
  • We have fact-checked this assertion using the National Election Commission (NEC) Voter Check
  • The result shows that the claim by the UP youth stalwart is correct

On March 20, Printiss Domah, Secretary General of the Unity Party Youth Congress in Nimba County, claimed in a Facebook post that Justin Oldpa Yeazeahn, known as Prophet Key, is not a registered voter. Prophet Key is an aspirant in the upcoming Nimba County Senatorial by-elections.

Domah made this assertion after he claimed to have verified the voter IDs of other aspirants and found no record of Prophet Key as a registered voter.

He claimed to have used the National Election Voter Check, which shows that Prophet Key is not a registered voter.

The Claim

This is the exact quote from Domah’s post: “Justin Oldpa Yeazeahn, popularly known as Prophet Key, is not a registered voter.”

Rating Justification

To fact-check if aspirant Yeazeahn is not a registered voter, we used the NEC Voter Check system to verify the voter ID listed on Prophet Key’s aspirant nomination printout issued by NEC.

The NEC Voter Check is a verification process used to confirm voter eligibility, prevent fraud, ensure transparency, update records, and build public trust in the electoral system. The process requires entering a voter ID and date of birth of a voter for verification.

When we entered Prophet Key’s voter ID (03604913266) and date of birth (1977), as seen on his aspirant nomination issued by the NEC, the system returned the message: “Person not found.” This means no record was found matching the provided voter ID.

To further verify this claim, we contacted NEC through its communication officer, Prince Dunbar, via WhatsApp for clarification.

In response, Mr. Dunbar promised to reply when the final list of candidates is published. If they do, we will update this report.

Conclusion

Based on these, we conclude that Printiss Domah’s claim that Justin Oldpa Yeazeahn, alias Prophet Key, is not a registered voter is correct.

After running Prophet Key’s voter ID and date of birth through the NEC voter check system, the system could not identify the owner and responded with “Person not found.”
