The aggrieved health workers gathered in front of the CHT compound on Monday, preventing vehicles belonging to the county health team and partners from entering or leaving the facility. They comprised of 17 Community Health Supervisors and 129 Community Health Assistants.

Josephine Korba, the head of the aggrieved workers, said: “We are professional people, worked for nine months, serving the county in providing good health care services but we are not treated fairly as professional people, we have not received our salaries from April to December.

“We wrote several communications to the County Health Team to address our salary issues but was given less attention which led to our protest today, which will last for so many days until the County Health Team addresses our problem.”

Benita Sartee, another health worker, added: “We will not leave this compound, no cars will enter, nobody will work here today until the they see reason.”

Receiving the position statement of the health workers, Grand Kru County Health Officer, Dr. J. Woyee Wreh thanked the aggrieved Community Health Supervisors for staging the protest in a “peaceful manner”.

“We regret the situation; it is disheartening, worrisome to the County Health Team that our Community Health Supervisors will work diligently in the period of nine months and they are not pay,” Dr. Wreh said.

“As county head, we will communicate with the relevant authorities who are responsible for the salary payment of our Community Health Supervisors in the county.”
