Lofa County: Women in Peace Building Begin Fast and Prayer For Liberia Elections

Zorzor, Lofa County – The Women in Peace Building Network Liberia have launched a 30-day fast and prayer for the holding of peaceful elections and subsequent smooth transition of power.

The women gather Tuesday morning, August 23 at the Zorzor women activity hall in Lofa County to launch the month long intense religious activities.

Speaking to reporters after the launch, Mrs. Nancy Zubah said: “When Liberia was going through the long period of civil crisis, women were the ones that held fast and prayer that brought the war to an end”.

She said they are now taking the same lead to ensure the country goes through peaceful elections.

“The process that bring (brought) peace to our country, is what we have started today, it was the same women prayer group that sat under the sun and rain fasting and praying that brought peace to this country. We are also praying for God to give us good and caring leaders doing these elections,” Mrs. Zubah said.

Krubo Y.M Beyan, Zorzor district commissioner, also told reporters that she was thankful for the prayerful women who are thinking about the future of the country through the conduct of smooth and peaceful elections.

The commissioner urged people of the district to join the women in prayer and ask God for a peaceful and smooth transition of power in the country.

A prominent Zorzor based businesswoman, Yamah Kezelle hailed the women for the move when she donated some food items to them, which will be used at the end of their daily fast and prayer.

She said the step taken by the women is very important and called on political candidates to help them accomplish their goal.
