Gbarma, Gbarpolu County – The National Civil society Council of Liberia through its Secretariat in Gbarpolu has completed a three day capacity building training for 80 community Based Organizations (CBOs) members throughout the county. The training started from July 6 and ended on the July 8, 2015.
Bopolu Section brought together 30 participants; Belle Baloma section trained 15 participants while Bokomu and Gbarma sections trained 17 and 18 respectively.
This Capacity Building project focused and strengthened CSOs Members (CBOs) in comprehensive proposal writing and Program management, networking and advocacy in a draft of a 5 year county strategic workable plan which is both the County CSOs’ secretariat and UNMIL Civil Affairs.
“This is the first project that we have undertaken. And so we want to say thank you to you all for your participation in this training. I hope that at the end of the day we shall have a tool to work with in Gbarpolu,” the CSOs County coordinator Mr. Harrison M. Cokie stated at the Bopolu Training section.
Mr. Cokie further said when they were elected; there was no support from central office which led to the lack of a county office and county active CSOs. He assured that local organizations will now be effective to work for the county while also hailing UNMIL for its support.
The Civil Society Organizations, Gbarpolu County Secretariat is an arm of the National Civil Society Council of Liberia (NCSCL). It is an independent network that has member organizations throughout the Country.
This capacity building project is supported by UNMIL Quick Impact Project in Liberia.
