An image showing what appears to be a scuffle between Bong County lawmaker Moima Briggs-Mensah and Nimba County’s Musa Bility is gaining attention on social media. In the image, Rep. Mansah appears to be angrily holding onto the shirt of Rep. Bility.

Several social media users have shared the claim, including a Facebook user who alleged that the incident occurred during Thursday’s plenary session of Liberia’s House of Representatives following what was described as a tense exchange with the CMC political leader.

Rating Justifications

To verify the claim, we conducted an online search and reviewed images of the live coverage of Thursday’s session (May 21), livestreamed by Liberia National Television and Hott FM 107.9 Liberia.

We were keen on analyzing the attire of the two lawmakers during the May 21 session while comparing it with the attire captured in the viral image.

We reviewed the footage and found that during Thursday’s sitting, Rep. Mansah was wearing what appeared to be a light gray coat with a vertical pinstripe and a black blouse underneath. This attire is different from what is in the social media image.

We also found that the outfit worn by Rep. Briggs-Mensah in the viral image was originally featured in a different post published by DN News on April 16, 2026.

On April 16, 2026, DN NEWS Liberia published a photo of Madam Briggs-Mensah wearing the same attire as the one in the viral photo

On the other hand, Rep. Bility was dressed in a navy blue suit on May 21. This suit is different from the black suit seen in the image shared in the post.

To further verify the claim, we contacted the director of Press and Public Affairs at the House of Representatives, Robert Haynes, via WhatsApp text.

In response, Mr. Haynes clarified that there was never a physical fight between the two lawmakers during Thursday’s session.

Conclusion

Based on these findings, we conclude that the viral image showing Rep. Mansah confronting and holding Rep. Bility by his collar is misleading. We conclude that the viral image is AI generated.
