Mosquito(Bed) Nets Distribution Training

The Gbarpolu County Health Team has conducted a two day training workshop for some General Community Health Volunteers (G.C.H.Vs) in Gbarpolu County .

The clinical supervisor of the Gbarpolu County Health Team Bennie Clark who served as a lead facilitator at the training told Local Voices that the objectives of the training workshop was to help the G.C.H.Vs be able to reach what he calls universal coverage with mosquito nets distribution among the Liberian population thereby reducing malarial.

Also speaking at the work workshop, Child Fund’s District Health Supervisor Oliver Fallah disclosed that based on the guidelines set for mosquito nets (bed nets) distribution in Ebola affected communities, the nets distribution will last for one month in the entire County and each household will receive three mosquito nets.

He concluded by saying “Access to malaria prevention, diagnosis and treatment has recently been greatly reduced given the overburdened and weak Liberia health system and fear of contracting Ebola. This is the reason that the emergency mosquito nets distribution is critical at this time in Liberia”.

There are 1,247 mosquito nets(bed Nets) in the county awaiting to be distributed by the trained GCHVs in Gbarpolu County after the official launch of the National Mosquito nets distribution in Liberia on April 25, 2015 by President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf.

Child Fund Liberia (CFL) is a Child’s protection and humanitarian international organization that is to carry out the nets distribution in Gbarpolu County.
